Ironman

Congratulations to our very own Mark Channon who this weekend successfully completed the Weymouth Ironman 70.3. For those of you not familiar with this event it’s a triathlon over the following distances; Swim 1.2mile Bike 56miles & Run 13.1miles all of which took Mark 6hrs32mins placing him almost bang on the midway of the 2500 participants. The weather and sea conditions were very kind if not a touch chilly first thing. Splits-wise the Swim 45:26 Bike 3:19:09 Run 2:15:54. Mark felt the event went as well as he could have expected and he felt good up to the last 2-3 miles where his body started to give way and he had to literally switch to “survival mode” to get to the finish line.

Mark Quote “It’s an event I have been working towards for the best part of the year and the fact it is multi-discipline means the training efforts and commitment are so much more than normal and therefore finding the time to train was certainly one of the toughest aspects. I was determined on the day to take it all in as much as I could and enjoy it (sadistic I know) The support from my family and the crowd definitely helped and made a huge difference, compared to the hours spent training on my own in the cold and dark”

This is the 2 of 3 arduous challenges Mark has set himself this year, all to raise money for a charity feels very strongly about www.naomihouse.org.uk Thank you to all those who have shown your support so far, and if anyone would still like to donate, you can do so by clicking here: www.justgiving.com/fundraising/MarkChannonBig3
